Meeting Room

The Sheridans would have used this room as a reception room or parlor. Currently, the Historical Society keeps this room open for meetings and rotating exhibits.

Permanent exhibits in the room include the Alexander Sampler, created by daughter Clarissa Alexander. The Alexanders are one of the early founding families in Winchester.

The large mirror did not come from the Sheridans, but from the Northfield Chateau, also known as the Schell Mansion. We also have a painting of the Chateau, which was torn down in 1963. A pair of sister mirrors from the Chateau now live in Belcourt, a Newport (R.I.) mansion.

The cabinet of pharmacy supplies were donated by Ken Berthiaume, former Winchester Historical Society member and one of the last independent pharmacists in the area. In addition to his daily tools, there is a collection of patent medicines from the early 1900s with some very questionable ingredients.
