The Sheridans were older when they lived here, so no children were raised here during their ownership. But, it’s possible that grandchildren visited them and this would have been their room as it was next to the servants quarters (currently the Albee Room).
This room features a child’s roll-top desk, a handcrafted dollhouse, Kingsbury metal toys (from the Keene factory), handmade cradle, and the closet of children’s clothing. Please make sure to close this closet door on your way out so the light turns off.
There were 18 schoolhouses in Winchester at one time. Winchester is the largest town in Cheshire County and contains several mountain ranges and wet-lands. There were no roads, so no school buses. Children had to walk or, if so lucky, ride a farm animal to school.
